What makes Antico Genovese unique? The recipe created by Roberto Panizza has as its main ingredient a Genovese PDO basil, sourced from farmers in the Prà area. It is a peculiar variety of basil, called ‘Genovese Storico’. Its aroma notes can not be found in any other basil, and therefore in no other Pesto.

President of the Palatifini association, Roberto Panizza is the creator of the World Pesto al Mortaio Championship and owner of the Il Genovese restaurant in the historic centre of Genoa.
Through his restaurant and his cuisine – star of countless events and television appearances in Italy and abroad – Roberto wants to defend and hand down the historical memory of Pesto Genovese.
